Companies globally are investing in bigger warehouses, such as 500 meters by 500 meters for managing shipments. Managing these warehouses with manual labor is big challenge. Especially for FMCG companies, unit of shipment in a warehouse is generally one carton or case. In truck loading process, during the pallet generation, the picker based on his loading slip, picks individual carton and places it on the pallet and get the pallet into the staging area, from where it is loaded on the truck. A battery operated vehicle with a pallet follows the Picker where ever they go so that the Picker always finds the pallet near to them for putting the case on the pallet. This requires additional manpower for Battery Operated Vehicle apart from Picker. Using Gridbots Follow Me Robot will reduce this requirement of Battery Operated Vehicle and Driver. In this scenario, Follow Me Robot will follow the picker while maintaining safe distance automatically. Picker will place the cases on the robot and as soon as the pallet is done, on pressing a button on Follow Me Robot, the robot will return to the staging area where it will automatically put the Pallet at desired location. Meanwhile a new robot will be dispatched to picker so that they can continue their work. The system comes with machine vision based navigation to follow the picker. The Robot features minimum turning Radius or 1200 mm - Automatic Obstacle Avoidance based on safety zones and Automatic System Health Monitoring capabilities with real time fleet control module.
